Reinstall Software on Nokia phones using Nokia Software Recovery Tool: Benefits and Risks

You can download the Windows Device Recovery Tool on your PC and use it to fix software problems on your phone. It'll install the latest version of Windows approved for your phone and remove everything else, including your apps, games, texts, call history, music, and photos. Before you use this tool, see if restarting or resetting your phone fixes the problem.

Reinstall Software on Nokia phones using Nokia Software Recovery Tool

Yes. When you use this tool on a phone that's running a preview build, it will reinstall the latest version of Windows approved for your phone by its manufacturer. To start getting preview builds again, you'll need to go to Download Windows Insider Preview for phones to download the Windows Insider app on your phone, then follow the steps to install Insider Preview.

Hard reset or factory reset cannot be compared with the old fashion Nokia programs like Nokia Suite. To the best of my knowledge only account and other personal (installed) data are removed. The software/firmware as a whole remains untouched. That software is not visible on the PC and the size is about 3 GB. When HMD in their "wishdom" does not give their customers the tools to really flash the firmware, it will be a deal breaker for me. I planned to buy a Nokia 8 or may be 9, but I rather wait and see.

Hi user625, Any alteration in the firmware of a PC or a cell phone can end up in a disaster. Knowledge about the right procedure and the use of reliable tools and software is absolutely necessary. If you don't know the source of the tools and software or there is no experience with the products of the unknown source don't take the risk. I have a Nokia 6 and the data I have loaded the internal memory of my phone with is about 6.63 GB. The total amount of data on my Phone is 9.1 GB. So about 2.5 GB contain data, which is mainly not visible on my PC, and of course the also invisible firmware. ROMS with the size of 1.5 - 2 GB are quite normal. What is the most reliable source of ROMS and flashtools in our case? HMD Global!!! In the Nokia era of Symbian 3, Anne and Belle all the ROMS were available and free to use. I never have had any problems using them. The best protection HMD Global can offer, is to make the TA ROMS and flashtools available. However, the actual policy of HMD in the case of flashing is very restricted. Yesterday I requested HMD to flash my Chinese TA-1000 Nokia 6 with the original stock TA-1000 ROM. HMD refused. I don't want to blame HMD for the wrong decision I made, buying the Phone in the first place, What hurts is that my favorite Phone manufacturer let me down, while HMD must have the means and the capability. Now I have to figure it out myself and I will.

My best experience on that matter,as a customer, was with Xperia from Sony: Always I had the Original Tools and Original firmwares ,so I had the feeling that no matter what hapen to my phone I was always capable to make a software repair. It's the feeling that You are the Owner of a product you buyed with your money and you fully enjoy using it.Thank you again, hoping for the best !

Hi user341, the Nokia 6 model TA-1000 is originally for the PRC (Chinese) market and in the PRC Google services are not allowed. HMD has never made a Nokia 6 TA-1000 with Google services. If a Nokia 6 TA-1000 nevertheless has Google services that Nokia 6 has a modified software/firmware, making the Phone a so called custom Phone and customized phones will not receive updates. I'm sorry. In order to prevent Chinese customers from flashing their phones with software, which contains Google services, HMD has made the bootloader locked, which cannot be unlocked without the proper software. Any HMD (Nokia) Phone has that non-unlockable bootloader, because these phones are partly already prepared for the PRC market. The reseller of your Nokia 6 TA-1000 has found a trick to load the software with Google services and multi languages. How? I don't know. Now it is easy to understand, why we will never find flash tools and firmware or Roms on the internet. We are treated just like the Chinese customers. HMD forbids us to flash our phones regardless the (Nokia) model. The only advise I have, is to return your Phone to the reseller and ask your money back, if you are protected by legal customers provisions.

Even if no bootloader unlocks, there should be recovery tool for the end-users, just like the old days had the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. Or just how there was Nokia Suite, or how Huawei has HiSuite, or how even Apple lets users to re-install phone OS using iTunes.

hi, i did every thing as u said, but after downloading the software its again restarts downloading the same file? it is too annoying ,i had downloaded 3 times of 1.50 gb files for my lumia 520.i also reinstalled it ,but no luck..any solutions

I have being doing insider preview since it was first offered out to beta testers and i can say that the video issue does not just relate to Nokia phones, i have noticed it affects the best of laptops and towers too as well as my Lumia. The problem i notice is microsoft has a habit of replacing certain Wireless and video drivers with generic versions of thier own. I was able to correct this on PC and Laptops by getting the official drivers from the wireless or video drivers official manufacturers website and this worked a treat, so i had to do the same with my Lumia so i recommend you use the Nokia recovery tool as opposed to the Mircrosoft one. 2ff7e9595c
